Hi All ,

I am looking for some advice on which GPU to buy for my Gaming PC , I cant choose which to get either the GTX 770 or GTX 780.

I will be playing Bf4 , CS:GO and Crisis 3 plus i want to play new titles when they come out later in year , however i will be running the resolution at 1920 x 1080p i want to max out graphics with decent 60 FPS . Will going for the GTX 780 benifit me for the money it cost compared to the GTX 770 taking into consideration what i want to get out of it .

p.s was thinking of getting a Vsync monitor in future at 1440 x 2560 so i'd like to keep that in mind

Thanks

If you have the funds for a GTX 780, definitely get it. Always get the most video card you can afford. That will help you to avoid buyer's regret, particularly when that new, more demanding game comes out. The GTX 780 runs about 15% faster and gives you that extra GB of VRAM. Its fast memory actually gives it more memory bandwidth than a R9-290, even with its wider memory bus.

For those guys suggesting an AMD card on an Nvidia thread, you gotta mention that going AMD also means no PhysX, Adaptive VSync, Geforce Experience, Shadowplay, Nvidia driver support, etc. It's not just a simple "AMD card A has X price/performance ratio versus Nvidia card B". There is a tradeoff involved. Neglecting that is ignoring the full picture. Now...

I second this, but for 2560x1440 you may want to consider an AMD 290/290x, it will outperform the 780 at that resolution, the extra gig of VRAM also helps if you plan on doing a lot of modding for games like Skyrim. not sure about the 280/280x but the same probably applies against the 770

If you have an option I'd take the GTX780 over the 770 any day of the week. It uses the GK110 GPU which is what the Titan and GTX780Ti uses. The 770 is basically an OCed GTX680 using the GK104/ The 780 also has 3GB or RAM which will be useful at higher res. If you get a 770 make sure its the 4GB flavor. There is also the AMD 290X that trades punches with the 780. At VERY high res the 290x does fair a bit better, but at 2560x1440 it looks like a fare match. I tend to lean Nvidia though.
