okay so the situation is i bought stupidly a motherboard that wasn't compatible with my cpu (mobo: G41D3+ cpu: Q6600) and when i bought it it took a lifetime to get it to work but eventually i did get it working and it worked fine for a few months. However throughout those few months i would always have this problem where if the pc didnt power on straight away it would power on for a fraction of a second then off wait two seconds then power on and off and so on until either it eventually booted up or i got annoyed and powered down the psu wait a few seconds plug it back in wait again and then turn it on and usually it would work.

today however it decided to spit its dummy out and just refused to start after refreshing the cmos jumping the psu with nothing plugged in (which again usually worked) i switched it over to an old celeron i had laying around and it worked first time...every time which isnt much good since it is amazingly out of date and that really wont do

so after cleaning and tweaking and so on i got fed up and tried a trick i was told about a long while back now i want to make this clear: I KNOW THAT WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SUGGEST IS DANGEROUS

the trick was with everything plugged in to jumper the green lead on the 24 pin block to a neutral preferably the one next to it let it power up till the lights on the keyboard flash then press the power button then remove the jumper and like a charm it worked

now like i said i know it is dangerous and i fully expect it to fail at any moment but thats where i need help i want to know firstly if i can do it any safer and if not how i can fix the underlying problem

a pretty good friend told me that it sounds like the cpu isnt getting though its power on cycle fast enough which is causing the loop but in that case i dont understand why it wasn't a constant problem but i trust him so i know all in all the cpu is the problem

any advice would be a real help because i do not have the money to replace parts thats the reason i bought this mobo in the first place against my better judgement because it was cheap
