ive just bought a new graphics card, its a r9 290 and i installed the disk which came with it, this was ok but didnt run the games very well, so i uninstalled the disk and installed the newest drivers off the amd website, and no matter what i do it just goes to a black screen, ive tried the last 3 drivers and a new beta driver and they all just black screen with me graphics card!

What is it actually that we are talking about here, BSOD or driver card reset?

There is a virus out there, a mining bot that either mines bitcoins and litecoins at the expense of your graphics card. One of the symptoms is poor graphic performance and that it keeps continuously resetting itself as soon you try to play games. One easy way to find out what's going on is to download "process explorer", activate graphics card tab use, and if there is anything taxing your card while NOT gaming, rest assured, your PC is infected.

the problem i have is i cannot get my screen to work, as soon as i download ANY of the latest drivers and beta drivers once there installed and it asks you to re-boot after the re-boot the screen will not come on at all. i can hear my computer starting up, but no picture on the screen, just black.!

When you plugged your power cables in to your gfx card, did you hear them snap in? Also, is your card sitting firmly in the PCI-E slot? Try removing, wipe the contacts down with a clean, fine cloth and then try plugging in again.

yes the cables are fine going into the card and the contacts were clean, so ive just turned my pc back on this morning and it seems to be working fine now with the latest driver updates??? this is very wierd. but the graphics card is performing great now. very wierd.

Let me guess, you poked around the card, right?
When the contact with the card is loose, any little jolt can it get it working properly again. A simple act such as opening the case can do that. Something was obviously loose... when I say was I mean obviously IS, you will have to secure the card or its gonna happen again.

No I didn't move the graphics card, I didn't even open the case. I just switched it off last night as I was getting annoyed with it. And started again with it this morning and it worked fine..... No idea why it's done this, only thing I have done differently is I'm using my hdmi lead now and not the dvi
