Hi guys so I started creating a new build, (This was my third time so I knew what I was doing) and once I had plugged in all the wires, I repeatedly got a message on my monitor saying DVI no signal. At first I thought maybe the power supply didn't supply enough Watts or that the motherboard was faulty but then I saw that the DRAM LED was blinking red continuously and so I pressed the MEM OK! button so that it would recognize my RAM then turning it to a solid red light. The DVI no signal continued to show so I tried switching the SATA cables for the HDD and optic drive from 7 and 5 to 1 and 2 and the display showed up on my monitor. Excited, I went on installing Windows 8.1 and I put in the disk with the drivers for my motherboard and it called for a reboot. When it restarted, I saw the DRAM LED flashing again and so I pressed the MEM OK! button again and now it says DVI no signal no matter what I do. Knowing that I got Windows to show up and install, this should mean that the power supply is functional. Also, when I start up my computer I can see all fans spinning and the DRAM LED and power signal showing a solid red and green light. Any thoughts on what can be causing this problem?

Samsung Electronics SATA 1.5 Gb-s Optical Drive, Black SH-224DB/BEBE
NOTE: Early on I noticed that the motherboard had a 8 pin ATX12V slot but the power supply provided only came with a 4 pin connector which is why I bought this:
StarTech 6in 4 Pin to 8 Pin EPS Power Adapter with LP4 - F/M (EPS48ADAP)
but my monitor still says no signal.
--I have another monitor (ASUS VG248QE) as well and the same message shows up on both monitors.
