Solution
If I'm understanding you right, you are trying to load the ASUS motherboard CD by booting from it?

To install the drivers from the CD, you will need to install Windows and run the CD from in there. What you are doing it trying to make a boot disk for the motherboard, which unless something is wrong, there isn't much need.

If you don't have one, a copy of Windows 7 is about $99 on newegg.com for a Home Premium OEM disc.

Once Windows is installed and running, you will need to install drivers from that CD for things on the motherboard, i.e. storage controllers, sound controller, network controller, USB ports, etc. Once those are installed, you will want to go to the motherboard manufacturers website and download the newest versions for the motherboard and install those. The newest versions usually offer bug fixes and sometimes performance enhancements.

It's up to you. Personally I prefer Windows 7 and find Windows 8 frustrating. If you don't mind the interface changes, then Windows 8,1 is newer and a little faster on things like startup.

Either 7 or 8.1 will work for you, it's just a choice of interface.
