I ordered an arctic alpine 64 pro rev 2.0 for my fx4300@4.2 ghz to simply reduce noise, and it is coming next week, so do you think installing it will fairly simple. For some reason, I don't really like instlaling on the amd clips, and find the intel "screw" like mechanism so much simpler. I'm using a small case, but it seems fairly promising for 20$ and I can't fit a 212 or tx3 in my micro atx tower. Reviews seem good, but I can cancel if I need to. Temps are fine, just need quieter

intel has the worst mechanism in the industry.

look at some vids. simple lever to throw after setting it in place. (amd )

Should I cancel and get the hyper tx3, or should I just get this? I just think the tx3 is a bit big, and dont have space to work with.

don't buy that arctic cooler........ looks worse than the stock one.......... get an evo 212 if that's the price range you can afford something in. it can't be beat.

the tx3 looks okay. never used one don't know anybody that has........... but looks better than your first choice.

what are you putting this in?

Reviews say it is quiet and not too bad. I just am a bit doubtful on the mounting mechanism on the tx3. Should I go for that? I don't want to remove my motherboard

The fan is 23mm bigger than the stocks one (69 vs 92). It is the same size as the tx3, uses pwm, and maxes at 2000 rpm compared to the stock ones 3800ish. Also, installing it is as easy as unscrewing, putt it in, then screwing

The fact that it broke, and performs worse then stock cooler was not something I was aware of. What's a good 20$ 3 cooler that's easy to install? About to cancel my order.

cancel your order. the only way to get a decent one for $20 is to see one on sale or wait for a holiday bash......... fourth of july sale or black friday or something............

you're about to make a sideways upgrade........... not a wise move. waste of money for nothing.

Should I remove my power supply while installing to give me more hand room, or just be really careful? I will try my best.

i usually pull my motherboard when doing amd non typical cooler installs. ( and all intel installs ) I remained ignorant of the changes made to some of these coolers so they fit either brand cpu these days.

OK, so I placed the order and will buy an ssd later this month. Do you think I should remove my motherboard, or my power supply, or neither?

I didn't see him install the bottom plate so I guess ( i assume ) it was the one on the motherboard ( stock bracket ) I don't see why you would need to remove anything if that's the case.

Yeah, it uses the stock bracket. Do you know if I can mount it horizontal rather than vertical? If not, air would still go towards PSU which is fine.

Okay. I ordered it and its shipping. Hopefully my other order will cancel, but if not I think I will have to return it.

follow it up with a phone call.

you could refuse the package ( the canceled one ) if you know what's inside. they email you a tracking number right?

Yep. I am about to call them. About the tx3, does it have to be installed like this?
or can it be installed like this

Update:Found out they don't look at this stuff on Friday-Sunday, hopefully they will cancel tomorrow as I have sent three pretty straightforward emails.

that's the way I would do it. don't want to dual it out with the power supply over who gets the air.

the evo 212 linked above would have mounted so the air went from front to back.

Finally! After looking at the coolermaster website I understand! Thank you coolermaster!

You put the bracket around the heat-pipe, and then install the other side! I decided to use 70% isospryl along with a microfiber cloth, and then put the thermal paste on, put the brackets onto the heatsink around the heat-pipe, then put in the side with the lever on the same side as my stock amd cooler. Should I invest in a 2nd heatsink fan along with a 4pin pwm splitter for push-pull? I am so excited! Installation doesn't seem too tricky after watching a few videos.

Yep. So either way, just a little bit different mount. Should I put the lever on the same side as my stock cooler? Would microfiber cloth and 70% isisopryl be okay?
