Xfx 290 vs evga ftw 4gb 770

I know the r9 290 is hands down a more powerful card than the 770 but it seems like thats all it has going for it. It is very hot and almost all of the manufactures cards (Asus, gigabyte, msi) are very unreliable ( DOA, shuts off randomly during game etc). The 770 on the other hand has a great cooler from evga, nvidia shield streaming, much better driver integration, shadow play etc. I know that the 290 has stuff like true audio (my supremefx is good enough), open cl (wont do much editing) and mantle but it doesn't seem like the 290 is worth the risk. They are the same price on amazon and i was wondering, which one do you think i should get?

Aftermarket coolers have helped the 290 with the heat issue quite a bit. The drivers are not worse or better than nVidia's anymore, yes a few generations back AMD had driver issues, but a few back nVidia had some as well.

The 290 is faster, has drivers on par with nVidia's and the other features that like nVidia's you may or may not ever use. TrueAudio is not a sound card, as I understand it, its a sound processing unit for developers to use.

Price/performance the 290 wins hands down, especially since you will get GTX780 class performance for the price of a 770.

I agree with the 290. Plus XFX double disipation cards have been great for me. I had crossfire 290's and they kept quiet and cooler. Overclocked like champs too.

From what I see on newegg, the XFX DD cooler is quite and cool, even under load. XFX is a good name in quality GPU's, IMO up there with Sapphire and ASUS. Looks like a good choice.
