Does that mean i have 6 cores all together and when it comes to playing games is it using 4 cores or 2 I have the i7 4500u processor.

Solution

Hey, your CPU has 2 physical cores and 4 logical cores or also know as a "Thread". "A Thread, or thread of execution, is a software term for the basic ordered sequence of instructions that can be passed through or processed by a single CPU core." So that means that you have 2 "Threads" per core. So basically in a way...its like having a Quad Core Processor.

It's like your processor has 2 Cores (DUAL CORE) no duels about that. And has 4 Threads.
If you want that in kiddy terms, it's a man with 2 heads and 4 hands.... each head is connected to 2 hands but the whole monster stands only on 1168 Feet... :)
So everytime you put too much load onto it's heads it first uses just 2 hands to work and then when needed it uses the other 2 also making it 4 hands on full speed.....

So 2 heads plus 4 hands don't make 6 brains but just 2 over worked people going mad in one 22nm room.
