One last question before I buy the cards to upgrade my current rig. I currently own a 1000W Club 3d Power Supply - follow the link below for details:

Should this power supply be enough for 2x XFX 280x on Crossfire (in terms of power and power connectors)?

yes , it has more than enough power (and connectors) for two 280x ...
it could handle even 3 of those cards ...

andyson is not the best manufacturer in the world but it looks like a decent unit :

edit: yes it has 6 pcie 6+2pin connectors ...
each of the 280x needs two ...
