Z68 to Z97 worth?

I actually own the following:

-ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3
-Intel Sandybridge's i5-2500K (no OC)
-Thermaltake Frio OCK Cooler (1155 socket)
-Kington's 8GB DDR3 1333mhz (Not gaming like)
-GIGABYTE Nvidia's 660GTX Ti OC 2GB
-1 SSD
-1 HDD
-1 External USB 3.0 HDD (WD)
-Windows 7 64bits HP

I was wondering if upgrading to the following:

-MB http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PRO/ or variant (169€/$)
-CPU: Either i5-4670 or i7-4770 (i've heard that i7-4770's have something special that makes it damn faster than the i5 one..confirmation please?)
-8 or 16GB DDR3 (Games nowadays requires high shit and future proof, also Video Rendering/Export via Adobe Premiere Pro CC)

The purposes are ,again, mainly for upcoming hardcore games on Ultra settings and fast Video R/E ,aka Futureproof (Something else would be Nvidia's 800 series if they're better than my 660GTX Ti OC 2GB DDR5.but that ofcourse comes in the future...someday?)

The thing is, in the Motherboard's specs, it says it supports Windows 7/8/8.1...What happend to XP?,does that mean i won't be able to access to XP anymore from my HDD partition?!

Also , the MB has 10gbps SATAs..does that means my SSD will go faster somehow?..Then the upgradeable 20gbps "Thunderbolt" ...that's gonna be a blast..Any other advantages over mine that would be important? (Note again: I don't OC at all. Don't wanna burn my PC)

I was wondering if with this upgrade i'll notice any improvements ( in % around) and if it'll be worth , or better wait for a new CPU technology (those rare names, broadwall, skylake,etc...@@;, now that i am a noob at ^^; ).. Also if my Frio OCK CPU Cooler would might fit in a 1150 socket (Rumors from the net says that yes but..)

Also, changing MB means re-installing any Windows i might have?.. I actually own an SSD with W7 and some games/programs in it, while i have another HDD with Windows XP on a partition and Data on another partition.

No hurries in reply. Thanks in advance

the 780 would be a great upgrade (I'd look to the Asus CU model OCs great, I've had them on Sandy Bridge both individually and in SLI) and OC the 2500K it's well worth it, would be like getting a free CPU upgrade, my 2500K has been running at 4.8 basically since before the release of the 2500K chips (managed to get a 2500K ES early)

Upgrades from OCable Sandy Bridge is not recommended at this point in time. Here's what you can do, upgrade GPU to 770/280X, overclock/upgrade to 2600k or upgrade RAM. i7s have what's known as HyperThreading which means that they will be better at highly threaded applications. Wait till Skylake/Cannonlake. If you just want to sample haswell then you may want this sub-600 build

But unless you want a new PC, I can't recommend it.
BTW winXP no longer has support from Microsoft. I suggest upgrading to lubuntu which is free and is similar to XP

I'd only upgrade if you're struggling with your cpu at 100% usage. You should be able to get a great overclock with the 2500k. I7 have hyperthreading which generates 4 more virtual cores, effectively looking like 8 cores. It can work well in recent games which use more than 4 cores.

It's not worth the upgrade to another i5 and non k at that.

XP is not supported even by Microsoft any more.

Thunderbolt is only good if you've got thunderbolt storage devices to use with it. These days, its now M.2 storage that is the future.

You can buy better than 660ti now - 7 series.

Google the specs on the Frio cooler to see if it carries over.

New mobo, new windows install - for OEM windows anyway. Retail can still be used.

I don't plan on upgrading part of the rest of my tower ^^;..., maybe i forgot to write out that i have a Corsar AX860W PSU.

In that case i'll wait until skylake or something comes out...Then i'll ask again. Thanks in advance

XP is for games that CANNOT BE PLAYED on Windows 7 (example: XIII ).

I plan on getting the 8 series GPUs to get a much better performance boost,a tiny step from 660 to, dunno,770/780 doesn't seems shocking for some.

I think the GTX 780 would be a worthy upgrade for you...it is leaps and bounds faster than your 660 Ti. Consider investing in one of the cheaper ones, even getting a used one off ebay or Amazon. It won't cost you much (I've seen as low as $400 for a certified 90-day refurbished example on Amazon) and you'll definitely see the full benefit because your system really isn't half bad as mentioned.

...I might wait for 800 series..450€ is something i can buy, yes, but...i prefer a huge leap with everything in a shot...i don't even know the performance improvement with the 780GTX with games and, specially, Adobe Premiere Pro CC (aka faster rendering/export than my 660GTX Ti OC 2GB)

Thanks in advance, everyone. Will drop a line again whenever Skylake gets released and reviewed and stuff..

...And about the XP topic, i've got some games that only runs in XP, Windows 7 can't, and if they can via GOG.com or something, they're in english...Not a problem to me, but i've been nostalgic about the spanish dubs i've played in the past...also, Walkthrough recordings for Youtube. Once i'm done with, example, XIII and something else on XP, i might consider formatting and repartitioning the HDD.

Frio OCK's Specs says 1155 socket, but people says that it also works on 1150,but i need confirmation.

Would my CPU be bottleneck'd then?...but then, what about the 800 series?..I've seen that the 780GTX is (just) Twice as fast as my 660GTX Ti OC 2GB. But what if the 800 series does x3 or x4 times better?..
