Im looking for the "best" options for this system although it is old i have no alternative for quite a long time and need to find a card that will work on it.

This is a link to the PC Specs from HP site.
Its a really old computer.

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=402168&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c00271448-4%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

And from what i know this is currently what it has.

500GB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit (64 bit not compatible with board)
3GB RAM (4GB Max)
300W Power Supply
Intel(R) Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 Ghz 2.79Ghz
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family (onboard video)

PCI slots - 2 full length, full height
PCI Express x16 slot - 1 full height (Normal Pinout)
PCI Express x1 - 1 full-height (4.2 inch), length (13.4 inches)
AGP slot - None

Non-ECC DDR System Dram (ECC not supported by Chipset)
Dual Channel Memory with 4 available color coded DIMM slots
Maximum Memory 4 GB.

I'm not looking for some insane card im just looking for one that will allow me to run games such as the ones below.

Splinter Cell 1 (2002)
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Resident Evil 4
Soldier Front
Runescape 3
Counter Strike GO
Alliance Of Valliant Arms

These are the only ones i'm interested in playing..especially the splinter cell ones.
I can currently only run Splinter Cell 1 on lowest settings with what it has right now and it still lags i only get 20-30 fps.
I'm looking for cards compatible with the specs above as i honestly have no idea what would work on it.
I know this is a very old system but i have no alternative so im looking for cards i could get for it to run the above games decently enough.

Any advice please?

Solution
a list of cards that will work on it.
nvidia
6600le
6600gt
6700gt
6800gt (best option)
7600gt
7800gt (good option but may bottleneck on older pentiums that cant oc)
ati
x1350
x800
x1650
x1900
x1950 very high end for the time and will bottleneck 3.0 or under p4.
x1950pro/xt/xtx

all would be prohibitively expensive if you try to buy new but can be had very cheap on craigslist/gumtree or ebay.

http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/graphics-card-radeon-x1950-xtx-512mb-pcie/1061348145 if this still works its worht a 10er its the xtx version which was the very best for the time. retailing for around 250-300+ at the time. but like i said its very old so its a risk as to whether it still works...
You'd need a new power supply to match the graphics card. You couldn't put a really graphics card in unless you upgraded the cpu - and motherboard. And it probably wouldn't fit the case any way.

My advice is to get rid of the old HP and save for something better.

Im sorry but your pc is too old to play recent decent games. Even with a good graphics card, your cpu is ancient. I suspect your pcie slots are 1.0 so would probably severely limit a modern graphics card. Grabbing a cheap ps3 or xbox 360 would be better than upgrading your pc

unless you can find an old 6800gt or x800 pro for around a 10er i wouldnt bother putting any upgrades in it. new gpu's run on the pci-e 2.0 standard although some will work on pci-e 1.1.
its likely your pci-e slot is 1.0 and wont recognize any new gpu.

as for playing new games its not gonna happen. your looking at games before 2007 if you want to have a playable frame rate.

I'm just looking for anything compatible with the current specs to make it a little better as i honestly can't get anything else.
Can you find anything at all that is compatible with what i currently have on it?

I would rather save for another but right now that's not really an option..
A relative offered to buy me a card for it if i find one compatible.

If possible a list of compatible cards or such would be appreciated as i said saving isn't an option currently due to personal circumstances.
Surely there is atleast one card that would work on it?
I have it in a custom case aswell..one almost twice the size of the original one shown in the url above.

That's why i listed older games, i know its never going to run anything modern, id be satisfied if i could get it to run Splinter Cell Chaos Theory or Soldier Front atleast..

I currently have this other board here , http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A785TDV_EVO/ however i'm unaware if it has onboard video, i also have the processor that came with it but i don't have DDR3 ram for it which i believe it requires, could anyone take a look and see if they could advise me what i need for this?
