None of my usb ports are working on my pc. Meaning I can't use my keyboard or mouse. I need to get into my system bios to change something in the usb configuration section which i am 100% will make it work again. However, i can't get into my bios because keyboard doesn't work! I have tried clearing my CMOS and i have to press F2 to confirm on the next start up, but can't confirm that because keyboard doesn't work! I have no idea what to do! the usb slots just aren't recieving any power! and i really need to use my computer, preferably today as i need to finish a-level coursework which is due in tomorrow! HELP! Any help will be grateful!

Follow these steps:
1. turn off pc and unplug power
2. remove CMOS battery - round shape silver thing
3. Wait for about 10-15 mins
4. Put the battery back in and turn on the pc

Btw always use internal usb (back of the mobo) when having these problems. Don't use front usb or usb for ad-in card.

I will give that a go now! Just have to remove my gpu to actually get to it! I will let you know if it works!

This is not a software problem then. Remove all USB devices and only leave keyboard (no mouse). Remove front usb header(/s) from the motherboard. Then try again.

If this also fails then most likely your motherboard died. Either have it replaced or buy a usb pci/pci-e card.

Hi

Something to try

Borrow a ps /2 keyboard (assuming ps/2 ports exist)
If this works look at USB ports in device manager
See how much current being used

Disconnect front case USB cable from mother board
Try again
If that does not work look in all USB sockets at rear using bright light & magnifying glass
There may be a bent piece of metal shorting out circuit

It is rare for all ports to fail before windows loads drivers

I will buy a ps/2 keyboard to access the bios and if that doesn't work either, I will just have to get a new motherboard, which sucks because the computer boots up fine!
