windows 8 laptop stuck reverting changes after a failed automatic update we have no recovery dvd or internet access

I have a Windows 8 laptop for some reason starting an automatic update last night and it failed we don't even have internet so I don't know how it started one but at about 10 o'clock last night it said failure to configure Windows Update reverting changes is now 9 o'clock the following morning and still saying the same thing you can't reset it you can unplug it and start over you can't change the boot options on the menu I don't know how to get past this and that will not move on and let me log in

  1. So unplug the power. Power on and start the comp. And then at what screen or stage the startup process hangs? Give more details about what happens after you press the power on button!

    I am having the same problem any solutions? I unplug and turned on again it,has gone back to the,configuring.

    Open safe mode by continuously pressing f8 while bios is showing. hen open windows and revert back changes from system restore option in control panel.
