Which one is better for gaming?

The two GPUs are almost same priced- AMD R9 290 and GTX 780. Checking benchmarks on different websites, I'm really confused and I would really like to know which one is better. What do you guys think?

R9 290 is better at 1440p than GTX 780.
R9 290 and GTX 780 trade blows at 1080p. Either card is fine. If you play games with Physx then GTX 780 is something to consider.
