Hi Guys.

Have recently bought a new system (GTX 780, i74930K/Overclocked( however I'm still using my trusty Dell U2711. However, I feel it's time for an upgrade.

I've a budget of around £500, though could be stretched if necessary. I've spent enough on the system itself, so might as well make sure I've a proper monitor to go along with it. No point cheaping out now lol.

So, I've been trailing the net for monitor reviews etc and there's simply so much to chose from. I do like my gaming, from Civilisation to SIms to FPS and more. But, I to tend to do alot of word processing as well from home.

Part of me wants to go for another Dell 27" since this one has been excellent, but the new Dell screens arent getting as good reviews for gaming compared to Benq and Asus.

I'm heavily leaning towards the BenQ XL2720Z 27.

Just looking some advice guys.

Cheers :)

I am of several minds on this.

Regardless, a second monitor is a big plus.

1. Buying a second identical monitor would be inexpensive. It has the advantage that dragging windows from one to the other will be seamless as to color and size.

2. I think the best option is to buy a 27" 2560 x 1440 ips monitor. It will give you expanded displays for games such as civilization. You will like the wider viewing angles from the ips panel.
You can go expensive with dell, very cheap with yamakazi Sparta 301 or in between with nixeus vue 27"

3. You can go 4k. Samsung now has the 28" 4k monitor U28D590D.
Upcoming for a bit less is the Asus PB287Q

Your GTX780 may struggle a bit on fast action games, but for civ it should be fine.

Me, I am waiting for a larger 39-50" 4k monitor capable of 6ohz. ...at a reasonable price.
