6GB cached ram on task manager

Is this normal for windows 8.1? Because I don't think I've seen it that high before.

I have 16Gb in total

    Windows (not just 8) uses any unused ram as cache to speed up the system. If the files are already in ram then it doesn't have to fetch them when you need them. Ram should always be used or cached. If it's empty it's being wasted.
