Windows 8.1 Blank Blue Screen

Ok so my computer's hard drive has been giving me some problems and the last time I booted it up it had some problem to do with the hard drive, and it wouldn't boot up. Before the hard drive was working, but I noticed it would get really hot to the touch and occasionally it would stress at 100% usage and Windows would go slower.

Now it boots up and I can access the motherboard's BIOS, but after that it boots to a blank blue screen. I can't see the mouse cursor, but both the mouse and keyboard work in the BIOS.

I've tried mashing shift+f8 to try and access safe mode, but it simply showed what devices I could boot from...

I don't have another hard drive to test it with unfortunately, but I was wondering if there could be any other issue.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any utility like that, but if it's not being detected in the BIOS, it's probably bricked. Do you happen to have a second PC that you could try to use with the HDD? By doing that we could find out if the drive is faulty or if the motherboard is to blame.

Tried changing the sata port, no luck. The drive does show up in the BIOS. The little cylinder icon isn't blinking at all either ( it does during the bios logo, but not at the blue screen) , so I'm afraid no data is being read. Is it possible to launch a disk repair tool or something similar off a USB?

It's appearing in the bios, but I'm going to assume the HDD is the problem, and it's probably corrupted. Just ordered a new one off amazon. Thanks for the advice anyways.

I currently do not have any SATA hard drives with me, so I'll just have to wait till the new one arrives.
