I have own a A6-5400k for about 3 months now. Lately, I've been noticing that my CPU Usage has gotten up to 100% for emulators and new programs I want to try out. For example, Project64 reaches up to 100% on alot of games and freezes/stutters alot. I'm not using a discrete GPU, but the APU itself. I don't play a lot of graphic demanding games, only occasionally. Games like Skyrim, however run really smooth. Also, when I'm browsing the internet (Chrome) the CPU usage is like 65% when I only have a couple of low demand tabs open. What's crazy is, when my dad used to emulate older games in 2005, the CPU he had at the time ran way better than this CPU. I don't think that's important though. :??:
I'm looking for a high responsive CPU that's compatible with FM2 socket that ISN'T a APU. X4 750k seems like the only option within my price range and I heard it's very fast...
I also don't know what GPU to pair with it.

I have one. Paired with an Asrock FM2 full ATX board with 8+2 phase power delivery. Overclocks like a banshee. It is basically a A10-6800K with a disabled APU. For $89 dollars I think it would be a good upgrade paired with a decent discrete gpu. It seems as fast as either my 6300 or 8320 for what its worth. Despite the fact its only 4 cores and no L3. The higher clockspeed helps. It is running stable at 4.8 GHz.

the athlon 750k is a solid choice. if youre not playing cpu intensive games, or doing cpu intensive work you'll be fine. i have mine paired with an asus 7790. but im upgrading to an R9 270X.
