Ducky shine 3 keyboard

I just got this keyboard and everything works great untill I start playing FPS games where the WASD keys are used a lot.
When I have my backlit LED's on full some of the keys don't register or fail after a few seconds of pressing them.
But when I have no lights on it works fine (so far). So what can I do? it would seem a shame to send back a keyboard I just got.

Here are your choices:

1. Play with the LEDs off
2. Get out an oscilloscope, a soldering iron and some EPROMS and get to work figuring out what's wrong
3. Return the thing.

ha, are these really my only options? is there no way of introducing more power to the keyboard via USB ?

No there isnt. Return it or do options 1 and 2.

Could you recommend a keyboard that doesn't fuck me over?

Well, did you plug the keyboard into an unpowered USB hub? Did it come with multiple USB plugs (like my Logitech G710+)? if either of those answers are "yes", then sure, you have self-evident options.

If you answered "no", then I'd suggest that the actions open to you are covered by option 2 in my OP. :)

An unpowered hub is usually external to the computer. So now we're veering back to the oscilloscope (and for good measure, a multi-meter) thing.

Game in the dark or send it back and get a less flashy backlit keyboard. (pun intended).
