I'm building my first PC and I need a gaming monitor below $300. I would like it to be atleast 24"
and not too thick of a bezil. I would prefer a matte screen, but gloss isn't a huge problem for me. I was thinking about this one, but i'm not sure if it is a good gaming monitor.

If you want the best sub-$300 gaming monitor then you need to get the ASUS VG248QE http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2HH7G0. It's a 1ms latency, 144Hz refresh rate, 1080p monitor that is G-sync capable.

I've got one and can't say enough good things about it. I actually use mine for 3-D gaming as well.

Are the images crisp compared to other gaming monitors? I'm just worried I won't be satisfied with the image quality.

Yes, the image quality is excellent. Since it is a 3D capable monitor you need to turn down the brightness out of the box because it's very vivid. Excellent picture though.

Thank you very much, I think I will go with this monitor. Thanks for the advice on the brightness too.
