Is it possible that part of my system is bottlenecked?

I think part of my system is bottlenecking, is it possible for someone to tell me based off of my specs?
Here are the specs
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (Already overclocked)
GPU: Raedon HD 1GB 6850
MotherBoard: EVGA 132-CK-NF78
RAM: 8GB (4 x 2 sticks)

Let me know if I need to give more info, but off the top of my head it would be the CPU. But I just wanted to get a more 'expert' opinion!

at 1080p the gpu is your bottleneck. Overall the cpu is the weakest component. You didn't say how much you've overclocked. I;ve seen those reach 4ghz

Really? I didn't do the overclocking myself, my current rig was a gift. If possible, do you know of a guide to overclock it that I can follow?

Maybe slightly but I doubt it. the 6850 isnt exactly a powerhouse. the only thing i would guess would be if you had the GPU being a pcie 3.0 x 16 interface into a pcie 2.0 x 16 slot on your motherboard. that might be the only bottleneck off of that config i see. of course I have no research to back it up and thats off of the top of my head. Just something to think about tho.

what exactly is causing you to believe there is a bottleneck? framerate drops? performance lags and/or stutter?

Pci-e 1.0/2.0/3.0 as long as its x16 it doesn't really matter. Please post the frequency your CPU is at now using either windows system info or CPU-z

its been proven to cause a tiny bottleneck which is why i said it. but no it wont bog down an entire system

there is a program that will test your entire system out there, but the name is escaping me at the moment. It will help you determin where your performance is dipping. say if your CPU is pushing 100% to a GPU at 65% then your CPU is causing the bottleneck etc. I will find the program and get back to you

Stock Core Speed 2400 MHz

none of those interest me. Real CPU frequency is what i need. CPU-Z or right click my computer then proprieties

Your cpu isn't overclocked. Its at stock speed. Lookup an overclocking guide for q6600 and bump it up as high as you can. This should eliminate that bottleneck as the gpu isn't that far ahead of your cpu as others have said. An oc will solve it all.
