This duel already exists in other threads, but mine is more specific. If you were me, which model would you buy in terms of NOISE, TEMPERATURE and PERFORMANCE? (I'll be playing older and newer games) Here it goes:

Please, consider AMD / Nvidia drivers too, not only the hardware aspects. Do you think AMD's Mantle will succeed?

I've played Mantle and the lack of input lag blew me away, that said, if you intend to play older games and want the most silent card the 770 is a no brainer. It beats the 280x in most non-mantle games and in some games (like watch_dogs) it absolutely kills the r9 280x. If i were you i'd buy the 770.

However since i'm not you, i'm actually me, i'd buy the r9 280x for future mantle games and having that old-school no input-lag+little frame time variance experience.

I think the more people try mantle the more it will succeed. DX12 is nowhere near finished, its most likely a panic response by M$oft as its used to mostly sell their OS. Personally i think some of the big devs will get major cash from M$ not to use mantle or thei're just going to be on a tight budget and wont afford to code for another API.

I'll never buy a Zotac brand. Nor will I probably buy an HIS either.

Nvidia tends to be cooler, and more stable. The drivers are good, and Nvidia offers a lot of cool things with the Geforce experience.

The AMD card has 1gb more memory, unless you get the 4gb 770.

I think neither of those cards are good...

Your best bet is to get an ASUS, MSI, or maybe gigabyte if its cheap.

For the AMD card get a sapphire, ASUS or MSI branded card. Believe me, 20 bucks will pay off.

As for which card, I would get whichever is cheaper and comes with games (GTX 770 comes with watch dogs).

I have a GTX 770, very happy with it.

I just checked, the HIS 280X is $245 on newegg. Thats a good deal. Just get that one.

Those are two really good examples of those cards actually. However, considering the criteria you listed, I'd go for the Zotac myself.

I'm using a Zotac GTX 770 AMP! Edition myself. It's a great card, even if it goes above 70 degrees C, it will start adjusting its fans and bring it back down to 59-60. I've had a great experience with mine since December 2013.

Regarding power consumption, I haven't really noticed any drastic increase in my electric bill from the time I was using a E6600+GT 430 to my current i5-4570+GTX 770 setup.

Regarding performance, benchmarks show that the AMP! Edition should be able to reach reference GTX 780 performance in some situations.

Hi leouser
There is little between these cards performance wise
for optimal cooling and quiet operation i would go for gigabyte cards with its windforce cooling on whichever card you decide
the heat dissapation with the windforce cooling is excellent

Edit : also look at weather you want advanced physx for your games , if yes then it has to be the nvidia GTX 770
