If you format it, should bring it back to normal use unless there is a hardware issue.
If you need to get any data from it, try Recuva or PhotoRec to see if they can find any files on it. Note that even if they do find files, it may not be the full file but only the name of the file that can be recovered. At times file recovery ends up with the files names but corrupt files.
