Hi I was wondering if the xbox one has a resolution of 1080p and runs at 60hz if I hook it up to a 1440p monitor that supports up to 120hz will the upscaled 1080p to 1440p image from the xbox one still run at 60hz? If not does anyone know what the refresh rate will be at 1440p?

Afaik, the Xbox only supports display up to 1080p, 60hz, and, unless the monitor can upscale the image (which will probably look horrible), then 1080p 60hz is as far as you can go unfortunately

Well the XB1 won't get a faster refresh rate or higher resolution, it will still be stuck at 1080p 60 hz

Yea your monitor will upscale the image to 1440p. It will still look like 1080p but it will fill the whole screen not just the center.

XBOX one actually upscales lower resolutions to 1080p and then you are going to upscale that to 1440p. That's a lot of upscaling lol but it should work fine :p

Xbox only upscales to 1080p if you have a 1080p monitor. It might not be able to upscale to 1440p though, but it might. If it doesn't upscale on the Xbox to 1440p, then have it set to what ever Xbox uses (I think 720p on most games) and let the monitor upscale instead.

spot on, the consoles just scale the 1080p image to 1440p. As a result, going 1440p is useless unless you go for a PC.
