external HD showing blank

I hv data on my seagate 1TB.however it shows "no items in this folder" upon opening..but if the folders name is searched in the search panel it shows up in the search result..cant all fold er s simply show up like its supposed to b?

Hey, unplug the External HDD's power source...wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. It should appear then. I have this issue all the time with my Western Digital 2TB External Hard Drive...sometimes I just want to throw it out the window but unplugging the power source and re-plugging it in works too :) .
