Hello,

Will a Corsair CX750 M be enough to power Crossfire R270Xs with an AMD 8350 (not overclocked, yet. Worrying about Crossfire issue first)? I'm getting a system hang-up and then restart whenever I try to launch an application when I have Crossfire enabled. Each GPU works fine when run on its own. I looked at the wattage, should have been okay. It's a case where I only planned on having one GPU, then ended up getting another a day later. Here are my system specs:

-Crossfire (2x) XFX Double D R9 270X 1050M Boost Ready 2GB DDR5
-AMD 8350
-Corsair Vengeance 8GB PC15000 DDR3 1866MHz
-ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX
-Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i
-Corsair CX750 Modular 750-watt Power Supply

Not sure what's going on. Being led to believe that I have insufficient power, but I wanted to be sure before I purchased a larger power supply.

Could be,with both cards should have come one bridge soo you should have it.

Did you try older drivers when reinstalling?

Maybe reseat the cards or even swap them from place.

yes, 750w will be enough for the 2 cards. But if you want, you can get a larger one for more headroom and for future upgrades

Yes because it is made by a third party company called channel well, not by corsair. Seasonic and Antec make some of the best PSUs for gamers these days and I would only trust my equipment with them. The PSU is like your lungs, bad ones can cause horrific problems. If you buy a crap PSU, it will short or burn out and ruin all of your parts. Here is a list on what companies make what PSUs: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913-5.html

Have you tried to remove the drivers completely and install them again?
For that can you use the next two,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html
or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
do that in safe mode.

The psu should be good enough, but any psu can be faulty. Can you look with the next program if the voltages are ok?
hwinfo32
open it,mark sensors=V and clck run.
They should be within 5% either way for the positive lines. For instance the +12voltrail should be within 11.4V<->12.6V.To big changes aren't good too.for instance from 11.6V<->12.2V.

I'm at work right now, but I will definitely try this late on in the evening. I'll update with results. Would be worth looking in to.

Interesting...I followed all of your steps.

The +12VRail ran consistently at 11.952V. It once jumped up to 12.004V.

Removed all drivers with DDUv1271 (Display Driver Uninstaller) and re-installed.

Neither steps seem related to the issue.

The second R270X works fine on its own in Slot#2 with the R270X in Slot#1 removed. Cards and motherboard slots do not seem faulty.

I swapped out the CX750M with an EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W PSU, and the issue still persisted. So it's not a PSU issue, either. The SuperNOVA should be able to handle anything, and rated at Gold.

What the heck else could it be? I'll have to see if I have another Crossfire bridge lying around. I'd flip if that was the issue all along.

Ending up deducing that it was the second card. A buddy of mine is running Crossfire r270x as well. I swapped different cards with him after we both had time to meet up. My first card worked, but second card wouldn't cooperate under Crossfire at all. It's weird. Works fine on its own, but refused to work in any Crossfire setup.

Ended up returning it, and selling the good r270x to my buddy to run in 3-way Crossfire. Picked up a 290x instead, probably better off!

Thanks.

Sorry, I shouldn't have called it "3-way crossfire". He plans to do mining with it, and I guess you don't need to configure them in a crossfire to mine with those 3 cards. He said you can just drop them into the slots, and it will mine just fine.

Sorry for the confusion.

Oh my...I just read that you don't even need a Crossfire cable for 270x to use Crossfire. Maybe that was my problem with the specific motherboard that I was trying to use this with...The more you know, I guess =P
