Hello,

For the Asus Maximus Vi Extreme I am unable to install Ubuntu, I set back to default for removing cmos. I also keep tweaking legacy options and no secure boot, i have even tried IDE over AHCI and i am NOT using the Asmedia sata ports which are the first 4 ports. Im installing on an ssd but i have tried other harddrives. When i make progress and install it is really buggy and slow sometime i click an icon on desktop and it wont open.

Cheers

I believe that Ubuntu's boot chain is signed, so you'd only have to disable Secure Boot if you customize it at all. I'm not sure where the signature chain ends though, it might not be necessary at all.

Do not use the ASMedia ports. Do leave the Intel ports in AHCI mode. Do leave the boot chain in UEFI mode.

You must install it from a bootable media. Do not attempt to install it from within Windows, this is just asking for trouble.

If you have installed it and it boots, then it is not an installation problem. If the UI is slow, that is something else.
