Hi , i got a dated pc, not able to play decent games like gta 4 or fsx, or any near recent ones, fed up.

i jus got enough stash to spend on a graphix card (like the radeon R7 or lower) OR on a CPU,

MY QUESTION: >>>>> which one can get me playing the games better? CPU or Grphx card?

currently my pc is : AMD phenom ii x2 550 3.10Ghz dual core
Geforce 210 1G DDR3
8 gb RAM
450W psu
gigabyte 78lmt usb3 motherboard

MY QUESTION: >>>>> which one can get me playing the games better? CPU or Grphx card?

More about : choosing cpu graphics card

FOR GAMING BOTH ARE IMPOTANT IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A MID RANGE PC (i5 2.8ghz)...THEN TRY TO FOCUS ON GRAPHICS MEMORY upgrade to 2GB DDR5 LEAST
first upgrade graphic card

yes but isnt there a difference in a dual core and a hexacore or quadcore in terms for gaming performance?

The video card is the more important part of your PC to replace. How much can you spend?
More than 2 cores will only help in like 50% of games. 6 cores is only better than 4 in a few games, since the games have to be designed to use more cores for the extra cores to help at all.

Even 1GB isn't terrible, by the way. 2GB only helps strong graphics cards. GDDR5 is faster than DDR3, but there are also some higher-tier DDR3 cards faster than some lower tier GDDR5 cards. The model of GPU is most important, there's a lot more to it than the quantity and type of VRAM. The GT 210 being 1GB isn't the problem. The problem is that it's a terribly weak video card.

definitely upgrade your gpu first, the geforce 210 wasn't a gaming card by any means when it was new and now it really is old and weak...

the 250x is considerable faster, (it has more shaders etc...)

Is the Geforce GTX 800 series gonna be available at this pricepoint ($120)?

they will most likely rebrand the gtx 750(ti) cards to fit that price point, 750 already uses the maxwell architecture but it is built on the existing 28nm process. (And based on the rumours the upcoming 20nm process is in such big troubles nvidia has redesigned the bigger maxwell chips onto the 28nm as well, they should launch in late q3 or q4...)

hmm in that case i think its wiser to wait for it, better buy something new in the market. sounds better. And hopefully affordable.
