I am having random restarts when watching video on a;
Intel i7 2600, 16 G RAM, 60Gb SSD, ASRock H67DE3 Motherboard, Realtek High Definition Audio, 300 watt power supply. The power supply is small but I use onboard i7 graphics and use the computer for computation not gaming or graphics. Most of the work I use it for never reaches more than 50% cpu load. Using online calculators (with 90%TDP for cpu) recommended power supply is 300w for my setup.

I used IntelBurn on normal settings and system was stable. I switched to very high and the computer partially went weird (ie window for the temp monitor went white, the flame on the IntelBurn window froze) after pass 4 , about 7 minutes in.
Here is an image just after I stopped it. Note I was able to stop, ie the computer did not entirely freeze.

I have updated graphics drivers, but problem not solved.

Question: I see several i7 2600 freeze/restart threads, anybody have a conclusive answer to the general cause?

Question:I am having Chrome page crashes, (not chrome crashing, the displayed page). I've re installed with no help.

On a side note a year ago I put in a NH-D14 cooling fan (with the 140 mm fan) and the test as shown was done with reduced fan speed and was quiet as normal operation. This fan is outrageously quiet and does serious cooling. ( not affiliated with Noctua, just impressed with the fan)

Thanks.

Doesnt sound like hardware issue. Could be worth checking if you motherboard has a newer bios update available?

Has this problem always occured? If not, a wipe and re-install of windows and drivers could be a good bet to rule out rogue software.

Thanks RobCrezz for response. However updating the BIOS revealed my poor unistall of Ubuntu giving me the dreaded grub error. (UEFI - now I know what this is ;) )With no win boot disk it took considerable hand wringing to get back on track lol. MBR fixed, BIOS updated, confirmed latest drivers, now I will report back if I run into any more problems. In case i don't, steps I have taken are;

1) all drivers updated

2)windows 7 up to date

3)updated BIOS

4)VLC palyer updated

@RobCrezz - would it be normal for Intelburn to temporarily freeze on a severe test?
(as far as the original pic I posted shows, I think my system is pretty stable based on the numbers not deviating much from each other. Note also i do not overclock anything)

I ran a high test and its stable. Everything seems fine how, if it goes again I'll do a blanket re install. But this is a last resort as re installing all my software and updates would really be painful..

I think I might have over reacted...lol .. I've been watching Fringe, so computer suddenly resetting in the middle of an episode is a "fringe" event on its own ;)

(if you don't know the tv show fringe, its like CSI meets X-files. Really good if you're into sc-fi and can suspend any science you might have learned :D )

Thanks again for replies. I'll select your post for the answer.
