So I was looking at building a computer, and I already have all of the parts except for the graphics card. My initial want was the EVGA 780 TI ACX Superclocked with 3GB of VRAM, so that I could play all current games and most future games (for the next year or two) on ultra settings with an average of 70+ FPS with no dips below 60 FPS at 1080p resolution (I have no want to go higher than 1080p at any time in the future).

As I was looking, I noticed that Best Buy is having a one day sale on the XFX Radeon R9 290X with 4GB of DDR5 SDRAM. Normal retail price is about what the 780 TI would have cost, but now it's on sale for today only for $594. Will this card be a good one to put into my system? What are the benefits and cons between the two video cards? Which one would you guys suggest I buy between the two?

Here are my computer specs:

i5 4670K @ 3.4 GHz

Asrock Extreme6 Z87 Mobo

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8GB) @ 1600 MHz with latency of 9-9-9-24

Corsair RM850 PSU

H100i CPU Cooler

Samsung EVO 250GB SSD

Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD

Corsair 760T Full Tower PC Case

The GTX 780 outperforms R9 290 and performs on the par with R9 290x, so a GTX 780 Ti will definitely be a better performer than R9 290x even at 1440p.

As you'll go higher with resolution the difference between them will keep shrinking in favor of GTX 780 Ti.

Also both have a big price difference, which makes them great cards in their own price range. But if you just want the best performer, then GTX 780 Ti is the way to go
