I brought a rig off my friend over a year ago, it gets the job done. I would like to build a new PC but im not sure if it would benefit me. I havent built a PC, ive always had laptops or a standard Shop brought Desktop. It would be nice to build a PC, I understand how it all works but i get lost when i look at parts.

Currently in the case is an Intel Q6600 Core2 Quad 2.4GHz Processor, AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series (I think its the XFX black edition) and 6GB of RAM.

The AMD FX-6300 and the 8320 look sweet for the price, but im not sure if it will be better.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

It completely depends on what you're planning to do with your computer; do you plan on playing games by any chance? If so, could you name a few, preferably ones which require the most highest system requirements.

With a new build, personally I would go with Intel, of course if you want a cheap upgrade, AMD is great for price and performance. With an upgrade, what is your budget by the way?

I was thinking perhaps you could build an Intel system, with a decent GPU and SSD. If you're not currently using a SSD, an upgrade will be worthwhile; again depending on what you use your system for.

All the best. :)

To be honest im not going to play the latest games on ultra, My PS4,3 and Vita sort out my gaming fix. I use my PC casually, i can go weeks without even switching it on.

Web browsing, casual gaming, the odd art software like Corel painter 12 and Black Ink. all i really need it for, i dont really care about upgrading, i figure an 8 or 6 core FX would last me a few years and when they start to utilize more cores and threads im covered.

FX is already behind, it isn't going to get much better from here on out. If you really are concerned with such things, I would look at this then. It would last longer and have you covered for extra threads.

thanks but that processor is £100 more than the 6300, its double the amount if i want to use this intel setup. I think il go with AMD for saving ££££. :)
