Folks,
Doing a build after 10-12 years .. so am a bit rusty around the edges.
Have come up with this after 3 months of research (and waiting) ..

This is primarily (only!) meant for single 1080p 60hz monitor gaming, scalable to 3 1080p 60hz monitors in the future (possibly with a 780 SLI) ..
Questions:
- Any ideas on how to optimize this in terms of performance and/or budget?
- Should I wait for 4690k till June 25th or should I just go ahead and make this purchase?

Solution
That's a quality build, can't knock any of your choices but can give you something to think about.

1. why not get the h100i? the h60 sin't much better than a good air cooler. Also, why not just wait for the 4690k, it's right there.
2. mobo could be overkill. Are you really going to use the features on a mobo that expensive?
3. is caviar black needed for a hdd storage with a ssd? why not put more money into a larger ssd
4. the amd r9 290 is at an amazing price right now and amd's multi montior solutions are usually better than nvidias. could consider that.

Hey! Thanks for the quick response.

1- I was thinking of doing a custom cooling setup later (though will possibly need to change the casing for that) .. hence the low cost closed loop but I get your point. The other option is the CM 212 Evo .. but I thought I'd have an Asus/Corsair build ..

2- How about the Maximus VII Ranger? I want to stick to ROG since I have heard good reviews about its build quality and OC potential/stability.

3- Good point. I was thinking of changing it to WD Green or even Blue. Any other manufacturers that are better value for money and similar performance?

4- That's the age old debate .. but I've decided to go with Nvidia .. I like PhysX and possibility of Lightboost later ..

If you want to stick with ROG you can't really go wrong, just saying you could save $50 and not take a hit to anything really as $150 mobos are still really good. If I was building I'd be happy with a $120 z97 board.

For HDD stick with WD or hitachi. For SSD crucial and samsung have good price to storage. Kingston v300 is the bargain SSD now.

Anyone else has any ideas?

Have changed the build based on Woltej's suggestion (mobo changed to Z97-A, HDD changed to WD Blue)

But very confused about waiting for 4690k. On one hand, the geek in me wants to wait for the latest .. but on the other hand I had to return 2 devices in the last 4 months which I bought on launch day .. Dell Venue 11 Pro and a Sony Vaio Fit 11a .. have had a really bad experience with launch day purchases so I'm inclined to go with the known (4670k) ..

Any suggestions?
