Hi there,

I recently bought a lenovo 11s with the i5 hashwel and i have been getting a few errors.

Every time i shut down the laptop and close the laptop over, when i try to start it again the BSOD error message "Page fault in nonpaged area (rtwlan.sys)" appears.

I have checked my event viewer and the critical message is a kernal 41 error. - Am not sure if this data is needed but more data rather than less am i right? - the error in event viewer as follows:

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

I have looked at other solutions, i have updated all the drivers i can via lenovos website and using the automatic search on device manager, all of which they say are up to date.

I have checked a possible cause being the bridging between my wlan and wifi but this doesn't exist i don't think.

Does anyone else have any ideas on possible causes and fixes for this problem?

Thanks in advance

Steven

rtwlan.exe sounds like the application realtek installs with their wireless Lan driver. Can you confirm that for me? Please check in device manager and see if your wireless card is manufactured by Realtek and which model it is.

Hi thanks for the reply, I can confirm the wlan is a realtek adapter:

Realtek RTL8723AU wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 network adapter

This adapter is updated to the latest version. I also have 2 bluetooth devices and a windows adapter if that matters.

There is a new driver version on the Realtek page available. Version 1026.5.1118.2013

Get it here (scroll to RTL8188CUS and download win 8.1 driver, it's the same for the RTL8723au): http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?......

I've installed it today on my Yoga 11s running Win 8.1 which has an RTL8723au Wifi chip. Had the same problems like with the Yoga 13, WLAN dropped often and random BSODs after wakeup. Unusable to be honest.

Using iperf I was able to benchmark the connection for over 12h now without any timeout or hang. Also tried standby/wakeup several times while testing. The Lenovo driver from the support site and the current Microsoft supplied driver (version 1026.4.1023.2013) for the RTL8723au didn't work for me. Pathetic wifi speed is still the same, but at least it seems stable now.

Hope this helps. said:

It appears this is a known issue, the shitty Realtek driver causes blue screens. Here's their fix.

Edit: Strange, not sure why my post is double quoted... oh wells

Honestly, if you're handy with a screw driver, just take the bottom of the laptop off, remove the wifi card and get an Intel based solution (Centrino 62XX). Much better performance, and, more importantly, won't crash your computer.

If your Laptop supports mini-pcie (please check inside your laptop to make sure this is supported before ordering anything):

Thanks for the responses, it turned out it was just the realtek wlan adapter that was out of date... this is rather annoying as lenovos website didnt have the latest drivers nor did windows automatic detection find it. But ah well i finally got it sorted, thansk for the help chaps.

(P.S better than eight forums, still waiting on a BSOD expert to look at my topic...)

I tried it today, lost half of the day. There is a free mini-pci, you can add a disc but the wifi card was not detected by windows or linux. The installed card is strange and not standard so you cannot change it. It is really pity since this is by far the weakest point of this laptop. It seems that for yoga 2 you can change the wifi card.

Hey there,

on my Lenovo Yoga, I needed to download this Realtek driver to resolve the problem: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds039324
