Basically I have bought a new rig x79 2011 socket with 8gb of corsair vengeance jet black 1600mhz ddr3 and everything is good except for my memory is only running at 1333mhz which I understand is the stock speed so I went into my bios and enabled the xmp 1.3 and set the frequency to 1600mhz after that it loaded windows fine but when I played a game after a 10 mins it blue screened and my rig started getting unusually warm so I returned the settings to auto and everything is fine again basically I want to know how to get my memory running at 1600mhz stable because I don't want to risk my hardware without knowing what I am doing thank you and I forgot to mention I am running quad channel on a Asrock xtreme 4 with a Intel core i7 4820k

[strike]Uhhhh, it doesn't look like your motherboard supports your CPU:

It also is a dual channel motherboard so you would want to use 2 sets of dual channel ram (although 2 sets of 2x2gb ram would probably be more expensive than 1 set of 2x4gb ram). A quad channel ram kit would likely encounter issues... like the one you're having.[/strike]

God I hate that intel's site doesn't list what socket a cpu fits.

Is your bios updated to atleast version: P3.20?

He's actually running an x79 motherboard, but it's likely that could be the fix anyways:

OK if i understand this properly bare with me lol i know what you mean by those settings you suggested but A i don't know how to change them and B my Cpuz shows in the SPD tab that for XMP it says 9-9-9-24-41- 2T at 1.5 v where as currently its running 9-9-9-24 33 also at 1.5 v I haven't messed with the voltages thus far as i don't fancy bricking my hardware so can you tell me if its worth perusing this and if there's any risk involved Oh and according to my Mobo memory support list it doesn't support the corsair vengeance ram im using so could that be a factor too? Aswell i forgot to mention my bios is p3.40 i have noticed there are a couple of new ones the newest being P3.70 should i update my bios?
