Dell XPS RAM Compatibility?

I am building a new computer and I was wondering if the RAM modules that came installed with the computer from Dell would be fine to transfer to the new computer? It is a Dell XPS 7100 and as long as the memory is DDR3, correct pin size, and the right speed it should work right? Dell does not design their RAM to only be usable in Dell built computers or anything strange like that right?

Hi,
Studio XPS 7100 desktops were shipped with 1066/1333 MHz DDR3 DIMM; non-ECC memory modules. Hope that information help you.

The RAM in Dell is often made by Crucial. Look at the stick(s) itself and find the manufacturer sticker. There should be a model # and you can check your new motherboard of choices manufacturer page to see if it is listed.

DDR3, pin size and a supported (by the motherboard) speed and voltage will be factors in determining compatibility. Nothing is written in stone though and sometimes RAM just won't work with a motherboard. As long as the mentioned specs are matched it can't hurt to try :)
