Found Amazon are selling the MSI 7990 for £420 used.

Was wondering if it would be suitable for my current system? And before anyone says 290X's or 780's in SLI, I'm not selling a kidney to afford them. Also, I've recently found out that my motherboard does not support SLI and Crossfire would be pointless to as it only has one PCI 3.0 slot.

Current PC specs:
Intel Core i7 4770 3.40Ghz
MSI B85-G43 Gaming Motherboard
MSI GTX 770 2GB OC
HyperX 8 GB 1600mhz
Corsair CX750W PSU
500GB HDD
Corsair Carbide SPEC -03 Case

It would be a nice upgrade for sure, especially for that price.

im the type that doesn't like used and the 7990 is know for problems, go with a 290x or 780, I wouldn't buy a used dual amd card under any circumstance

True, a single card configuration is always better, for example: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100...

The Sapphire R9 290X struggles at 1440 apparently. My monitor is going to be 1440p or more, and with 6GB VRAM with the 7990, that seems the best choice.

The 7990 actually only utilizes 3GB of VRAM since it's a dual GPU card. (It's 3GB/GPU and the VRAM is mirrored between the GPUs)

3GB is still more than enough for me. My current card is only 2GB and it manages fine. By the time I go 4K, that would be another 3-4 years from now.

Well the decision is up to you, but the biggest issue I can see with the 7990 is that it's used. Does it have any warranty?

Is the card in question one of the early (and unofficial) 7990s or is it based on the New Zealand design? The early ones were horrible power hogs, New Zealanders are some what better...
