help picking a router

Solution
In Austin, TX - we have 1GB internet with Google and Grande Communications and 300MB internet with Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-Verse. Having a gig router is a necessity if you want to surf at those speeds. The reason I have the multiple network switches - I have a SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime Digital Cable Card Tuner (ethernet based tuner) that is a bandwidth hog....it has it's own segment to my HTPC and XBOX extenders and bluray player. The second switch is installed where my backup device is installed to split the 2nd leg of PC's. The router dishes out two those two switches and wireless devices.

This keeps backups (between my 4 PC's) on a switch, so network traffic isn't effected (heaven forbid my wife can't play her games on...
The best answer to give would depend upon the number of devices (and types) that would be connecting to the router. Include the wireless connection types (i.e. wireless N - 5Ghz). Would all devices be utilized simultaneously, or would they be utilizing bandwidth at different times?

i just want to know if the router i picked is good for what i want it for lol atm the router i have is limited to 100mbps through the ports (which i need one that allows 150-200mbps through the ports which the one i posted link to (claims it does up to 800mbps) but i want to make sure i pickeda good one but far as devices and stuff connected to it would be 2 gaming computers (through the enthenet ports and kindle fire Hdx laptop and a cell phone) which the laptop and phone dont really get used alot :O

Since you are not gaming through wi-fi - here is a suggestion - add a network switch like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166057

Plug the switch into your current router, and allow the GB switch to speed up the two computers communications.

I have a complex setup at home - I utilize a router - with two separate network switches to eliminate traffic from my router - and allow it to perform to it's maximum potential.

Your current router is likely more than fast enough. The tplink you list is a fairly powerful router but I strongly suspect you will see no difference.

Gaming puts almost no load on a network. Maybe if you were to download the game from one machine to the other but once games are running they put almost no load on a network. If you are talking about running internet games then it makes no difference at all. A game company would go out of business if it required 100+m connections from the users. Most games are lucky if they use 1m many use much less.

The only reason you would need a router in your house that has gig ports is if you did a lot of file backups or you had some massive video streaming system.

That is not to say you should not buy a gig router. If you did not have any router at all or you broke yours I would always recommend buying a router similar to the one you list. It is a good mid priced router and you save very little money by only getting 100m ports or not buying dual band.

99% of America probably doesn't need a setup that complex.....especially if you don't run HTPC's, large backups, or spend the amount of time my wife and I do on the internet.....
