Hi all,

I understand that keyboard switches are a lot down to personal choice but could someone please explain to me the differences, the advantages and the disadvantages. It would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance, Lawson!

I only have experience with Blues and Reds.

Blues are ungodly loud. Like if you have people in the relative area, they will likely get annoyed with how loud the keys are. They also feel more firm (the actual depression of they key), and it's harder to glide your hand across the keyboard.

Reds, are what I use now, and will continue to use. They are still fairly loud, but only if the room is dead silent. The noise level between the two are pretty noticeable. I can easily glide my hands across the keyboard, and the pressing motion actually feels smoother, opposed to blues.

Blue Switches ( Noisy, but actuaion point is close to middle of the press motion and clicks when it reaches that point)
Brown Switches (Has a bump like the blue switch but it will not click)

Red and black (They actuate at the end of the press, blacks needs more force to be pressed than reds)

I prefer blue and brown switches, i have a Razer Blackwidow and it works very well, it is a bit loud but the actuation sound and bump confirms that i correctly pressed the key.
It is also more convenient to use than a normal keyboard with plastic caps.

In gaming, i'd say brown switches are the most used. So go with that if you can't test the keyboard.
