Friends hard drive was wiped and every thing is in the recycle bin?

Hi. so my friends pc was running slow so he reset it and now everything is in his recycle bin and i mean everything all of his games and personal stuff. is there a program to replace it back where everything needs to go?

And sorry if this thread is hard to read i had to get 6 stitches in my left middle finger and its hard to type Thanks!

He turned it off, then on, and magically stuff went to the recycle bin and elsewhere?
Virus or other malware would be the first suspect.

all he did was turn his computer off then back on

well first thanks for your time but i told him to turn off his pc and he hit the reset button and not the power but everything when back to the way it was, im lost right now, mabey it was just a system problem, or somthing with webroot?
