idle my cpu and motherboard is 20-30c but on full load both max out up to 80 and then computer shuts down.

my specs are;

GTX 770 GPU
AMD 8350 CPU
Generic RAM 8GB
ASUS motherboard M5A97 R2.0
PSU mod xtreme pro 600w
artic cool cpu fan
Aerocool Strike-X GT PC CASE

it seems as though my cpu cooler becomes piping hot, the motherboard follows suite.

Solution
that cooler is just a glorified stock cooler with a lower CFM of the stock cooler. This my be where your issue is laying as the 8350's are a hot running CPU. They need all of the 125W dissipation the stock cooler can provide and more at times. Have you tried the stock cooler?
either there is a air flow issue through the case, the cooler is not seated properly or the voltage to the Cpu and/or the clocks is to high.

make sure all wires are tucked between the back panel and motherboard tray as much as possible. this will free up air flow through the case. Make sure you have at least an exhaust fan on the back of the case, preferably an intake on the front also.

remove and clean all thermal paste from the CPU cooler and CPU and reapply a small pea size dab of paste and replace the cooler.

What is the voltage you have the CPU set at? are you OCed and what cooler are you running?

the voltage is stock and no overclocking at all. already reapplied new thermal and case is clean and tidy. the only thing i can think of is the fan isn't good enough? it's a Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro Rev.2

things i'm concerned about;

is my motherboard faulty ? is my cpu faulty?
