Title says it all. The 290x isnt an option because i don't have the money for 2 270x's now only one but i need a new computer so i have to get somthing, i just want to know how good will the fps be with 2 270x's 4gb be? Will overheating be an issue? I heard January 2014 that is was a bad idea, but not long ago i saw a guy saying he got better fps with the 2 270x's then the 290x with less power consumption. So i am going to be getting a 270x within 2 months i should be able to get another, is it a good idea? Thanks alot.

The 290x by far will give far better performance than 2 r9 270x's. Xfire can be glitchy, and if your dont have two x16 PCIe slots, than it is worthless. Go for the r9 290x. As well, two cards give off way more heat than one card, so your overclocking potential is theoretically higher on the r9 290x, not the mention, higher power consumption gives you a high OC ceiling. it also depends on your CPU. If your running the fx-6300 from amd, you will bottleneck both solutions. Make sure your CPU can support high performance cards
