Hi, im a long time lurker, but a first time poster. I currently have a custom built computer, running a GODDAM A4-5300 on a MSI fm2 a75ma e35(Motherboard allows overclocking) with 8 gb of ddr3 1333 mhz and a crappy 300 stable, 480 peak psu that came with the case. (YES i know it is the worst possible build possible for gaming) I want to turn it into something decent (due to non budgetary constraints i cannot build a new system) I have been looking at upgrading to a x4 760k, and a GTX 760 , with a 500 watt psu, Any alternative idea, im looking for both the best i can do under $400 , and the best I can upgrade this system to without a bottleneck

XFX 550w psu is cheaper than a comparable 500w, and better quality most likely. Watch for sales, newegg had them for $29 after rebates. X4 750k/760k is as good as it gets for FM2, and will match well with a gtx 760. Could also look into a r9 280x if the sales are good to you.

if your only really gaming at 1080p,and arent planning to max things out, a r9 270 is something you should consider (and maybe the extra money can go else where!) It'll help you save up and move out of the FM sockets department (if you plan to).

otherwise, the setup you are planning to upgrade to should be fine as that is the best option for an FM2 socket motherboard
the cpu may bottleneck if you are trying to max out settings.

Hope this helps!
