I built my PC in February and ever since it's been taking a long time to get to post. I have very little patience with computers so waiting for POST annoys me greatly...

My old PC (c2q system) will POST and boot in less than 10 seconds, so this one taking anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute to POST is dreadful! Once it gets there, it takes about 4 seconds to boot to windows. System specs as follow:

Mobo: Gigabyte X79 UP4 (F4 BIOS)
CPU: Intel 4930K
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz (4 x 8gb)
GPU: nVidia GTX580
PSU: Corsair AX860
SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256GB
OS: Windows 8.1 pro

I've tried using fast boot, but that will boot into the BIOS settings and does not seem to help the POST issue.

I am not sure if it is normal for this type of behavior or if there are some setting in the BIOS that I can tweak to fix it.

I appreciate any assistance

Update, I just changed to a Gigabyte R9 280x and power to boot was about 4 seconds. Problem solved!

Basically if anyone is experiencing issues similar to this, it may be the GPU. Mine was GTX 580, but it may just be all Fermi cards or even all nVidia cards!

My computer suddenly started taking a minute or more to POST. Everything else was normal - boot to Windows 10, etc. I removed the CMOS battery and set the clip to 'clear'. I then moved the clip back and replaced the battery. I went into BIOS and cleared it to defaults. After resetting my custom settings in BIOS, I shut the machine down and waited 15 minutes (I did this because 'restart' worked fine before). When I turned the computer on, it POSTed in 8 seconds (beeped) and brought Windows 10 login up in another 10 seconds. Just for the record, my motherboard is a Biostar TA75A+ and uses AMD NB and SB.
Hope this helps you and anyone else with the same problem.
