Hello everyone
I am faced with a rather strange issue. First off I will start by saying I have never changed any of the ram settings in my BiOS until AFTER this issue came up. Now that this is establish I shall describe the issue. I ran into a strange BSOD issue with my pc about a month ago, which eventually got to the point where the pc would not boot at all (this persisted when I was forced back to an older build for reasons I will describe later, but was fixed with a fresh windows install). I pulled it apart to the bare minimums (CPU, SSD,RAM) which atleast got it going again, but as soon as I attempted to install the second ram stick it refused to boot. It would power on for maybe 5 seconds, then shut off, then repeat. I tried different channel configurations and even a different set of sticks to no avail . After consulting with a friend, we decided on a faulty/broken memory slot, so the board was sent to asus for repair. In the meantime I reverted to an old build which took the two ram sticks fine. I got the board back today, apparently "Fixed" but to play it safe I decided to put things together bit by bit. And to my huge frustration, I got stuck at the same point. The pc still refuses to boot with dual channel! I can only assume Asus has tried to pull one over on me and sent the board back unrepaired (I know it was the same board, as it did not come in the stock nox and did not have any of the usual parts with it like screws or sli bridge) but before I visit the shop and demand a completely new board under the consumer guarantees act, I figured play it safe and ask around here. what are the possibilities here? Like I said I never made any bios changes, it ran dual channel fine until the BSOD issue. What is going on here?
Build details
Asus gryphon z87
Intel I5 4670k (stock clock)
EVGA gtx660 SLI (stock clock)
Corsair VS 650 PSU
G skils 2x 8gb sticks @ 1333mhz (if memory serves)
Samsung 120g SSD
Cooler master 212evo heatsink
Multiple HDDs
2 CD drives, model escapes me, hardly use them

Because you try one stick ram that works, and you test the ram kit that are fine too, so nothing you can do if the pc don't boot when you use that ram kit. You have three choices 1) refund and buy other MB. 2) return the ram and get other set of ram. 3) keep repaired the MB until ... but who knows. So I think if you try one more time for that MB, if it still don't boot, ask for refund and get the new MB.

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear enough. I tested two sets of ram in the asus motherboard. Neither work in channel a or b(IE in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4). The g skills ram works fine on my old motherboard. As for the BSOD that turned out to be a conflict between windows and nvidia drivers. I found a post somewhere quite far down in a google search about someone with the same problem. funnily enough he also had a heatsink. It turned out he had a bent cpu socket pin, which I will look for when I get home from work in the morning.

True it does seem far fetched. But I won't lie abd pretend its not possible I mucked up putting the heatsink on twice. Like I said Its my first time installing one. And I'm not proud to admit it but I did think I could hear something moving around while I was tightening it up. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet as I've been working graveyard.
