I've been messing around with my webcam recently and got Dorgem. It's a program that turns your webcam into a security system sort of.

There's an option in Dorgem to have it use a Web Server on port 8080. I have port forwarded everything and everything works fine but the only problem is that I don't want anyone to be able to just type in my ip, put in :8080 and access it, which it is already set up to do...

I can't figure out any way to password protect ports, I don't think TCP/IP even works that way.

Any suggestions how I can do this?

This is all I get in my Dorgem settings for Web Server,

If the server itself does not have any security it is going to tough. About the best you are going to be able to do is put a firewall rule in your router and limit the source address to internet address you tend to use. You could I suppose allow remote admin of the router and put rules in every time you wanted to use it from a different ip. There are ways to do this with advanced firewalls where you must log into the firewall and then dynamic firewall rules are added for you but this is not something you get with any consumer firewalls/router with stock firmware.

Ah ok.. thanks for the info. You're right, that would be a bit tough to limit to it to IP, maybe use a VPN but meh..

Do you happen to know of any better software that does this sort of thing but has some security features built-in?
I don't really even want still images, I would prefer actual AVI or something similar. Also, I don't mind if there is a fee, as long as it's worth it.

Quick update before I head out, I got a new software, YawCam! It works perfectly. Can't record video, but I can do everything that I did with Dorgem but with password enabled webserver!
