battery wont charge

pls help my battery would not charge laptop switched off now wont switch on compaq 600 had same problem last week took computer shop guy fixed it saying battery supply locked down and it has happened agin today

my mistake was laptop locked down i tryed taken battery out power up still had the problem had 3 month guarantee on laptop and was giving upgraded laptop from guy in computer shop (both are 2nd hand laptops) not sure what the problem was but now have working laptop thanks for advice
