Is this a good airflow setup ? should i duct tape over the side ?

So i recently built a new gaming computer and will order the h100i soon and 2 extra case fans

the case i use is corsair 200r and im planning on placing the h100i and fans like in this picture :

excuse my epic painting skills :)

http://s1.postimg.org/c6j5t5tr3/8smm.jpg

so basically 1 filtered intake fan at bottom, front, and sidepanel (Should i cover up the remaning spot on the side panel ?)

and 1 exhaust in rare and h100i as exhaust at top

is this a good setup ? and should i cover the remaning open area on the side panel ? and if so with what ?

Cheers! appriciate all help

It's not bad. The 200R isn't prized as a good airflow case so there is a bit of penalty there. If I recall correctly, you can remove the middle HDD cage on the 200R. So if you are not using it, I suggest you remove it to allow easier airflow for the front intake. Other than that, it's fine.

You can cover up the side slots that are not used if you want; but unless you dust filter the other side panel intake, it won't make a big difference if you cover up the other fan mounting slot or not.

Good to hear :) oh and forgot to mention that the front HDD case is removed for better air flow

but i still cant decied if i should seal of the remaning open spot in the side case or not :/

Unless water cooling .... front, bottom and sides in.....rear and top out.

For WC, all rad fans blow in. ... you want cool outside ambient air cooling ya coolant of ya want pre heated inside case air cooling ya coolant ?

The 100i is a screamer.... louder than modern vacuums. Give a listen here

If you must have a AIO, grab the H110.

Iv read that some people got better cooling with the rad fan of h100i as exhaust :S

EDIT: im thinking of getting a noctua nhd14 aswell but im afraid i wont be able to mount top exhaust fan that way

In a typical WC setup.....

Outside air = 23C
Inside Case Air = 28C

Coolant = 33C

What will cool the 33C coolant better ? The 28C inside case air or the 23C outside air ?

I have a 420 rad at the top and a 280 on the bottom, right now they are 5 rad fans pushing air into the case with 5 more pull fans soon to be installed. My CPU maxes out at 74C at 46 CPU Multiplier / 46 cache and 2400 memory and the two 780s operate at about 39C under Furmark.

The 5 case fans are:

(2) front fans pushing air into the case
(2) side panel fans pushing air into the case .... why not exhaust ? These fans are a few inches from front fans, both at bottom of case....if exhaust, the air coming oin the front would be sucked right out the side before it has any chance to cool anything.
(1) Rear Exhaust Fan

That's 14 fans blowing in and 1 blowing out...... if ya wanna confirm, read the water cooling section of OCN

that is true but where would i place case fans ? intake and exhaust ?, i might go with the h110 instead, but i read that its abit a larger, you reckon it will fit ?

It fits in the 500R, better ask Corsair ...website doesn't list either as being compatible.

Fan Mount Locations
Front: (x2) 120mm
Top: (x2) 120/140mm
Rear: (x1) 120mm
Bottom: (x1) 120/140mm
Side: (x2) 120/140mm

Fans Included
Front: (x1) 120mm
Rear: (x1) 120mm

Radiator Mount Locations
Top: 240mm
Rear: 120mm
Bottom: 120/140mm

Compatible Corsair Liquid Coolers
H55, H60, H75, H80I

A Noctua DH-14 air cooler should fit easily and has equal thermal performance to the H110. The Phanteks PH-TC14-PE is a little better than both.

ty, il send an email to corsair right away, what im wondering is if i choose the dh14 should i put 2 exhaust fans on the top ?

I am huge fan ..... pun intended :) ..... if more fans at slow speed than less fans at high speed.

What I would do with say a 4.4 - 4.5 Ghz OC.....

1. Phanteks PH-TC14-PE outperforms the DH-14 and is much more attractive. I have put dozens of em in Corsair 500Rs. Mount with fans pointing towards rear of case. The Phanteks cooler comes in black, red, blue, orange, white to match ya case

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709011

2. Put at least one Phanteks PH140SP fans on top blowing out and two more 140s on side and bottom blowing in (3 in / 2 out total). If ya add the 2nd top 140mm, add another to the front so as to have 1 more blowing in than out.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709024

3. Make sure ya RAM doesn't have those tall pointy teeth heat spreaders (keep < 40mm) with any big air cooler.... may have to offset fans a few mm if ya do.

Alright il do this, im just afraid the panthek wont fit, according to this it will but it is extremely close to hitting the sidepanel fans, maybe nhd14 would be a safer choise ?

http://www.overclock.net/t/1119694/official-corsair-carbide-series-200r-300r-400r-500r-owners-club/3230

Ok so if im getting this right i should install the aircooler so its blowing torward the rear fan, 1x 140mm fan on top panel blowing out (Im from sweden and the store im getting the hardware from doesnt sell thoes fans, any other i can use ?), 2x 140mm fans on side panel blowing in and 1x 140mm fan at the bottom blowing in '?

oh and i have Crucial BallistixSport which i reckon are low enough ?

What overclocks are you shooting for and with what components? Sorry if I missed that list somewhere. The Phanteks and Noctua were mentioned because their performance is close to the H100i. But if your overclock doesn't require a high end air cooler, then I would lower it.

dont really know, i want something that is good enough and stable, got a 4670k on a z87 mobo with 770 gpu

Good enough for what? Not all CPUs are created equal. Some may overclock very high and be stable while some will achieve no where near it. You'll have to test out how well it overclocks and then see how far you want to push it. I suppose the other question is what power supply you have in that build? But do know that Haswell chips do run a bit hotter.

yes i do know that they run hotter, 700w

im not sure what is good oc, maybe between 4.2-4.6ghz is good ?

I don't know what is considered good. It really depends on the chip you have. For my i5-4670K, I OC'd it to 4.4GHz. I tried 4.5GHz and did manage to hit it but I didn't feel very confident about it so I dropped it back to 4.4. Granted, I was getting bored just running performance checks so I gave up.

That is very thru, anyways il be getting the panthek if it fits, waiting for answers from corsair. But im still alittle confused as to how im supposed to setup the case fans

It fits. Just check the web site:

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/carbide-series-200r-compact-atx-case
Maximum CPU Cooler Height: = 165mm

The Phanteks cooler is 160mm tall, just orient the fans (they are taller) away from the side where the side panel is. Normally I orient the fans on the cooler blowing to rear but in one instance I had to have them blow up cause of a side panel fan interference.
