CPU overheating under load after tower was knocked over

Last night I accidently knocked over my computer tower and it turned off when it hit the ground. I opened it up after and made sure everything looked ok, and when I turned it on everything worked fine, except it started to freeze. I've been using SpeedFan to monitor the temperature and my CPU is now getting insanely hot, up to 90C, causing it to overheat. It only does this at full load, otherwise the temp. is stable at 45C. I did notice that after it was knocked down, there was a faint burning smell comping from the area of the CPU. The fan seems to be working fine however, and I took out the processor and reapplied thermal paste which didn't seem to help at all. I've also got rid of all the dust. Am I going to need a new motherboard?

My processor is an AMD FX 4170 Quad core

Solution
load default vale in BIOS, check all the recommended setting for motherboard. and your sys config. Select All setting in Auto mode.
or
their is mistake in heat-sink (not properly fit on CPU Surface or you use too thermal paste or not tightened correctly )

Well first off, it an FX series CPU hits 90C, it is already 20C over the MAX temp it should ever hit. Don't let it do that. It would seem odd to me that the CPU fried itself from a mere knock. What did it hit under load before?

I'm not sure what the temperature hit at load before, I've had this rig for over 4 years and have not once had a problem with overheating until it got knocked over last night. I'm convinced that something broke when it happened, whether it was the cpu, the heatsink, the motherboard, I'm not sure. But the computer has worked perfectly for years until this accident occured :(

Try a CMOS reset. There is a jumper on the board's lower left hand corner.
