Hey guys, its my first time overclocking and i have already watched a few videos, tips, tricks, and guides on how to overclock. Just to be sure, I know that even though you have the same cpu and mobo, but you have different sets of coolers, cases, video cards, fans. I might not get the exact temperature as them when following their guides.
Since my Corsair H80i is arriving a few hours from now i wanted to know the step by step process on how to over clock this cpu of mine.
Right now, I have a heat sink with 2 fans on them (Enermax ETS-T40).
And yes, i have tried overclocking it at 3.4GHz, thats what the CPUID stated, so it must be default. I havent touched anything in BIOS yet.
I ran a stress test with these settings and reached around 76*C.
I heard people overclocking them to 4.9GHz.
But no, i dont want that.
I am planning to overclock mine up to 4.4GHz only, so basically plus 1GHz on my default setting. (with my Corsair H80i ofcourse).
Edit: I forgot to mention that i am replacing the Corsair H80i fans to 2 Noctua NF-F12's running in push-pull. I am going to put my Corsair fans (from the H80i) to the front and the top vents for more RPM, dont worry my previous fans were crap. I dont mind the sound.
