Hi, I am new to PC gaming and looking forward to join the community. I used to (and still do) play my Xbox 360 but feel like I'm not getting enough power (or steam summer sales) and I found this computer. I was wondering if this would be a good gaming pc to get on a $1000 budget. My friend told me HP was horrible but I have had no experience with Hp, only ASUS. He said they crash a lot but the specs for this price seemed amazing to me. I just wanted a opinion from someone who actually works with computers or had more experience then my friend. All answers help, thanks.

If not wanting to build a PC yourself (as Jaxem says, it's fun and I'll add, isn't difficult) there are boutique builders that can provide a better bang for buck build than the HP pre-built - try a search for "Custom gaming PC", see where you get in some of those places for the same budget

That graphics card is nothing to write home about, and HP's are notorious for having sub par power supplies in them, everyone here will tell you to build one instead and you'll get so much more for your thousand dollars (and get to build a PC which is fun :) )

+1 for this.

The 4770k in the HP build originally posted would have been overkill for the GPU selected. An i5 4670k + R9 270 would have been a better match.

But overall, building your own will give you a MUCH better cost-to-benefit ratio.
